Accept & Except

Know when to use accept and except

The words accept and except are easily confused because they sound alike. Accept is a verb which means to receive, agree to, or endure. The doctor will accept any patient, even if they cannot pay him.

Except is a preposition which means to exclude. This computer can win at any game except chess.
